i already knew i was doomed the minute that the character teaser trailers dropped, not only because he reminded me of my self-insert OC vani, but what do you mean there's another charming morally dubious purple undercut guy barreling towards me again?! and like millions of people online have already said, he was definitely a character who stood out a lot in season 2, and one who happened to tick ALL of vani's boxes (they match each others freak in a way that is alarming, they're perfect for each other (derogatory), etc.). so, yes— this is a guy who fits perfectly with vani's strange antics that i typically portray him with. both of them bounce off of each other's weird and off-putting vibes very well. they're like two bugs that you find in your sink at 3 am (affectionate). they are perfectly, cartoonishly bizarre together!

my first primary selfship! as soon as i was told that they were adding a flashy idol guy to the roster, i was immediately interested in him. this interest never went away even several months after his DLC dropped and then i happened to learn about selfshipping not too long after this; all of the terminology that i learned just so happened to describe exactly what i felt for him, and the rest is history! he and vanitas are very cat and mouse; chasing each other because they both can't get enough of the thrill of doing so. vanitas was an intense no-spin fanboy from their debut up until the accident that propelled trickster into his solo career. the obsession is mutual, but they aren't aware that they're both just as lovesick! vanitas' lack of fear around his favorite idol despite what he's capable of is what ends up bringing them closer to each other.

NUKE-E 14M-RF04: "jung saejin"

after saejin's debut trailer went viral online, the backlash that ensued (there was a huge push back against having virtual idols in a group mixed with real ones) confused and intrigued me. once superkind debuted, my attachment to him was near immediate, and he wound up becoming a primary F/O! he is a part of a species of artificially intelligent beings known as NUKEs; although they haven't been officially called robots/androids in superkind's lore, i choose to depict him as one in my ship with vani. he has a soft and comforting dynamic with him, where they help each other understand the complexities of living on earth and all that comes with it together. the two work on developing space travel technology together, as it is their favorite place to escape to when things back home get tough.

pairing myself with both aichi and amuro feels so natural because i admire them for a lot of the same reasons; they are both dedicated to making a better future, and they both learned to grow closer others despite the hardships it took to form their bonds. part of their confidence comes from having forged these connections with others, and from excelling at things that they're highly knowledgeable about. for aichi, this is cardfighting! i loved watching him learn and grow from all of his card battles, and seeing his confidence bloom over the course of the series warmed my heart <3 he is very strong and adaptable and nerdy and i like these things about him a lot.

amuro ray

getting into the universal century timeline for gundam around the same time that i started my physical transition absolutely changed my life in many ways that i was not expecting it to, and i even got to pick up a new guy along the way! amuro means a lot to me because of this, and i relate with him a lot as someone who also has a traumagenic disorder and is neurodivergent. i admire his dedication to creating a better future despite everything and i find his interest in tinkering with gadgets charming! i think he's very admirable as both a person and a mobile suit pilot, and thinking of healing with him brings me a lot of comfort. i decided to make our ship anniversary the same day as my official T start date as a symbol for growing alongside him, and for how UC changed my life for the better. (i have a lot to say about him, might add onto this later...)

one of my most personal ships that helped me get through some tough times. i first watched this musical in full in 2022 and thought he was a very intriguing and entertaining way to personify death! even the grim reaper's charms worked on me, i guess (if you know anything about the source material, this is very in character and supported by the narrative lol)! in the musical, he ends lives by kissing others, and he has a complicated dynamic with vani in which his own intrigue with the human is so immense that he can't decide if he wants to end their game of push-and-pull by kissing him. although tod has locked onto making vani his next soul to take, vani finds his reaper companion cute and doesn't complain about being followed around by him!

erik, the phantom of the opera

possessive men from gothic horror media just keep following me around and it works every time, i suppose... he is a very interesting character with many different interpretations and sources to pull from, hence why my AU is based on several of them! honestly, what really did it for me was seeing cho kyuhyun's portrayal in phantom: the musical (which pulls elements from the 1991 rendition of the same name), as we got to see a more soft and somewhat naive side of erik. this version and the 25th anniversary version of the original 1986 production were my biggest inspirations for my AU with him! his ship with vani is a nice middle ground for me, as it it, of course, retains the same brand of possessive desire that i enjoy pairing vani with (this is probably very obvious from reading these bios lol), but it also contains elements that are quite soft and romantic as well.

this is my primary self-insert OC, who retains most of my traits from real life, with a few exaggerated ones mixed in for fun. he is a short tempered, impulsive, stubborn, brash, ditzy, zany, silly sleepyhead! vani is intended to be molded to fit whatever canon i put him in, so some of these traits may be toned down or exaggerated even more to match the situation or plot. his physical traits remain the same across all verses, though; he is a medium-tan/beige-skinned short king (approximately 5'3''/160cm) with dark brown wavy/fluffy hair (sometimes short, sometimes down to his collarbones) with sleepy eyes and two earlobe piercings in each ear.his backstories are also all AU-specific/dependent, as i change them slightly to fit the canon that his F/Os are in.i have other self-insert OCs that can be viewed here!
